Title SsangYong Motor global sales record 13,174 units in Nov 2018
Date 2018-12-03

▪ SsangYong sells 13,174 vehicles in November 2018, up 9 percent over November 2017

▪ Best domestic sales this year in November, exceeding 10,000 units for two straight months

▪ SsangYong to achieve best quarterly sales in Q4 by expanding into new markets and maintaining growth at home

SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Johng-sik Choi; www.kg-mobility.com/en) announced that it sold a total of 13,174 vehicles in November 2018–10,330units in domestic sales and 2,844 in exports including CKD kits.

SsangYong's November sales were up 9 percent over November 2017, exceeding 13,000 units for the second straight month after October 2018. The company had posted its best sales month this year in October helped by the sales uptrend in its home market.

In the domestic market, the Tivoli and Rexton brands continued to enjoy strong sales with the highest sales this year. This contributed to the best sales month this year at home, up 17.8 percent year-on-year.

The Rexton Sports (export: Musso), the most popular model ever among SsangYong's pick-up models, is leading the company's growth at home. The vehicle sold over 4,000 units for two consecutive months, up a massive 103.8 percent from a year earlier.

January-November sales were up 2.6 percent, compared to the same period last year thanks to strong sales of the main models. As a result, the company is sure to achieve sales growth in the domestic market for nine consecutive years.

In the overseas markets, SsangYong's exports were down 14.2 percent over November 2017. However, the company expects a gradual recovery by aggressively tapping into new markets, including the establishment of its first-ever overseas sales affiliate in Australia.

Musso has been launched in more countries, and Rexton was recently launched in India as the Alturas G4. This would result in an increase in the sales of its CKD kits.

Johng-sik Choi, CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, commented, "We achieved again our best monthly sales this year in November following October, remaining consistent with the uptrend," adding, "We will achieve the highest sales in Q4 by responding to growing needs flexibly."
