| New Rexton carries passenger
and vehicle protection to new limits, with active
safety features that ensure you and your loved ones
arrive home safe and sound after every trip, short
or long. |

ESP
(Electronic Stability Program)
ESP is a program that draws together (integrates)
such active safety technologies as EBD, ABS,
TCS and BAS to help drivers control their
vehicle during all driving situations. It
detects wheel slippage- such as can happen
on wet or icy roads or during sharp turns
- at the earliest possible stage and automatically
intervenes to adjust acceleration and braking
operations to return the vehicle to the driver's
intended course.
| Principle |
| Using sensors to
detect a difference between the driver’s
intention (steering wheel angle, brake
pressure) and the vehicle’s actual
wheel speed, brake pressure and behavior
(turning angle, lateral acceleration,
directional acceleration), power is
controlled and brake force is applied
to all four wheels independently to
maintain normal driving stability under
any situation. |

BAS
(Brake Assist System)
For drivers (particularly women and the elderly)
who are unable to exert sufficient braking
force in emergency situations, the Brake Assist
System (BAS) automatically recognizes the
need for and exerts added braking power which,
according to results of Mercedes-Benz tests,
can reduce braking distance by up to 35%.

SSPS (Speed-Sensing
Power Steering)
Convenience and safety are both improved with
speed-sensing power steering, with a lighter
touch required for parking or low-speed driving,
and an appropriately firmer grip when traveling
at higher speeds. |

Braking
Performance
- Enlarged brake size & quick response-type
booster are adopted to increase brake force
and greatly improve brake feel
- Non-steel-type brake pads to reduce wheel
corrosion, extend brake pad life span, and
significantly reduce brake noise. |
