XDi270 Engine
Type Inline 5 cylinder Direct Injection
Capacity 2,696cc
Maximum output 165/4,000 (ps/rpm)
Maximum torque 34.7/1,800-3,200 (kW/rpm)

XDi270 Engine Features
High Performance This sophisticated engine cranks out 165ps and maximum torque in virtually all rpm ranges. The third-generation common-rail system (1600-bar injection/32-bit ECU) and Mercedes’ CAN-Bus engine management system ensure optimal handling through real-time torque control.
Fuel Economy An optimized combustion system ensures outstanding fuel efficiency for greater economy.
Quiet Operation The diesel engines are as quiet as their petrol-powered counterparts, thanks to a rigid engine block. Multiple injection and other advanced systems.
World-class Reliability SsangYong parts suppliers are certified by Mercedes-Benz, and their parts are subjected to rigorous durability testing. The Mercedes approach to engine production is also followed.
Environment-friendly The engines currently comply with Euro III emission standards and can be upgraded for Euro IV

XDi – A high-performance engine with advanced system
1. Sophisticated 3G Common-rail System

2. High-speed, Multi-layer CAN-bus System
Various sensors inside the vehicle monitor engine operate in real time and optimize combustion conditions to ensure consistent output.

3. The Diagnostic Systems Found Only on 3G Engines
Two knock sensors:In addition to the primary measures for engine knock prevention, the minimum drive pulse (MDP) is continuously adjusted, enabling the diesel injection engine to “learn” how to operate more quietly the more it is driven.

Fuel temperature sensor:
The temperature of the fuel supplied to the common rail is monitored constantly to ensure consistent output and protect the engine.

Booster pressure sensor:
Air volume is measured in real time to maintain optimal combustion and minimize emissions.

The Common-rail Direct-injection Engine
Fuel efficiency is maximized through electronic control of the timing, quantity and pressure of fuel directly injected into the combustion chamber.
[Features]
- Combustion control equals or exceeds that for a petrol engine; high fuel compression and injection pressure are maintained.

- Emission reductions are 20% for carbon dioxide, 40% for carbon monoxide, 50% for hydrocarbons and 60% for particulate materials.

- Fuel efficiency is improved 20%, low-speed torque 50%, and power output 25%.
