Title SsangYong Motor Changwon Engine Plant II exceeded 1,000,000 unit production of diesel engines

SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Johng-sik Choi; www.kg-mobility.com/en) announced that the company surpassed 1,000,000 units of cumulative diesel engine production produced at the Changwon Plant II.


Attended by 70 management and employees including Seung-Ki Song, the head of Production Headquarter and Byeong-Du Min, the head of Changwon Plant, the ceremony was held at the Changwon Plant II on August 10th, 2016 to celebrate the 1,000,000 unit production of diesel engine and joint-efforts.


The millionth engine produced at the Changwon Plant II is a 2.2L rear-wheel-drive diesel engine (D22DTR) for the New Actyon Sports pickup. It has been greatly enhanced for 2017 with the addition of an upgraded Euro 6 complaint e-XDi220 engine, offering excellent off-road driving performance blended with good economy and true versatility.


Meanwhile, the proclamation ceremony was held for the new slogan of ‘Change for the Best’ at the Changwon Plant on the same day. The management and employees reaffirmed their determination to make the Changwon Plant as the most competitive engine plant through ▲ Quality Innovation ▲ Productivity Improvement ▲Company/Customer-Oriented Mind ▲Active Communication ▲ Improvement of cost competitiveness.


Changwon Engine Plant produces 5 different gasoline engines and 6 diesel engines with cutting-edge facility. With total yearly production capacity of 430,000 units, 130,000 gasoline engines, 200,000 diesel engines, and 100,000 1.6L small engines for Tivoli and XLV are being produced.


Seung-Ki Song, the Head of Production Headquarter, commented “since opening of the Changwon Plant I in 1994 and the Plant II in 2004, total accumulated production of gasoline and diesel engines has exceeded 2,460,000 units.” And he added, “Based on our exclusive technology and know-how, we will do our utmost to develop highly efficient engines and provide perfect quality products to customers by enhancing production efficiency.”
