SsangYong Motor Company(CEO Choi Johng-sik; www.kg-mobility.com/en), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced that the company sold a total of 10,816 units in February 2017 – 8,106 units in domestic sales and 2,710 in exports.

SsangYong’s February sales grew by 2.3 percent over February 2016 driven by the continued popularity of the Tivoli brand models. In terms of February’s domestic sales, it is the highest volume in February in 13 years since February 2004 when the company sold 8,660 cars at home.

Its domestic sales rose for the second month in a row, with an increase of 16.1 percent to 8,106 units over February 2016, attributed to a sales uptrend based on the Tivoli’s strong sales growth of 42.3 percent year-on-year.

Its exports declined by 24.6 percent over the same month last year due to the economic recession all over the world including the emerging markets.

However, SsangYong expects a steady sales growth in the overseas market as well since the company accelerates its efforts to expand into new markets, while strengthening its marketing activities in the main export markets by launching the New Korando in the European market.

Choi Johng-sik, CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, commented, “SsangYong’s domestic sales are largely expanding thanks to the continued popularity of the Tivoli brand models,” adding, “We will further increase our global sales based on our strengthened lineup including the face-lifted cars and brand-new cars such as the Y400, a large premium SUV yet to be launched this year.”
