In the domestic market, the company's monthly sales posted record high in 39 months with an increase of 18.8 percent year-on-year since December 2015 when its sales were 11,351 units helped by brand-new Rexton Sports KHAN (export: Musso Grand) and Korando (export: Korando).

SsangYong's January-March sales rose 13.7 percent over the same period last year, as its domestic sales recorded highest Q1 volume in 16 years since Q1 2003 when its domestic sales were at 39,084 units.

SsangYong launched two new cars with high competitiveness in the first quarter of this year that contributed to smooth sales growth with an increase of 14 percent at home and 12.4 percent abroad respectively.

Musso Grand, launched in January, has enjoyed the better-than-expected market response and held a prominent position in the original pick-up truck market in Korea.

Another brand-new car Korando, launched in March, is expected to boost mid-sized SUV based on its best-in-class driving performance and competitiveness.

SsangYong plans to expand its global sales by introducing new cars in more countries and accelerating to enter new markets.

Byung-tae Yea, CEO of SsangYong Motor Company, commented, "We recorded highest-ever Q1 sales in 16 years helped by a series of launches," adding, "We will increase our global sales based on the strengthened product lineup amid growing global SUV market."
