Date 2020-06-01

▪ SsangYong sees sales recovery in May with an increase of 21.6 percent MoM to 8,286 units

▪ Company proactively responds to post-corona era with online launch of Tivoli G1.2T and untact sales channels

▪ SsangYong to expand global sales with updated models including face-lifted G4 Rexton and Tivoli Air in H2 2020

SsangYong Motor Company (CEO Byung-tae Yea; www.kg-mobility.com/en) sold a total of 8,286 units in May 2020 –7,575 units in domestic sales and 711 in exports.

SsangYong’s sales performance in May jumped by over 50 percent month-on-month thanks to strengthened sales promotions, and its total sales increased by 21.6 percent MoM despite the production setback amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

The company explained that its ‘untact’ sales programs contributed to the sales increase by diversifying sales channels such as online e-commerce and home shopping in keeping up with the new ‘untact’ buying trend referring to non-face-to-face services amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

SsangYong’s domestic sales in May increased by 25.9 percent from the previous month as all models recorded an increase including the Tivoli and Korando whose sales surged by 27.1 percent and 27.6 percent MoM, respectively.

SsangYong’s May exports, however, decreased by 10.7 percent from the previous month as the nation-wide lockdown rules extended to most countries amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

SsangYong Motor, seeing a good result from the ‘untact’ sales marketing in the domestic market, is working hard in preparation for the post-coronavirus era proactively, such as the online launch of the Tivoli G1.2T model in Europe through the YouTube in May.

The Tivoli G1.2T, launched for the European market, combines superb performance and price competitiveness. It offers not only sporty, stable and strong driving performance, but also better fuel efficiency and lower carbon dioxide emission by meeting Euro 6d-step 2 standards. The model has up-to-date convenience features and safety features, as well.

SsangYong Motor is making company-wide efforts to secure sufficient auto-parts and manage its supply network to prevent production disruption due to the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the company will increase global sales by extending its lineup including the upcoming face-lifted G4 Rexton (export: Rexton) and Tivoli’s long-bodied version, the Tivoli Air (export: XLV) in the second half of the year.
